Description

This is a dwarf variety of Gunnera with a wonderful nickname – The Devil’s Strawberry. The attraction of this plant is the interwoven foliage which forms a green version of a Greek mosaic. Gunnera magellanica originates in South America and is hardy to minus ten degrees Celsius. In a cold winter there may be some frost damage to leaves and stem but being a perennial the plant recovers. Gunnera magellanica loves heavy damp soil and establishes very quickly.

Repotting or planting

Remove the plant from the pot, and plant in damp ground, in a hole deep enough to accommodate the root ball.
